339 Wharf Street, Queens Park WA 6107

Fees

Queens Park Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. This means that Medicare/private health insurance will only cover a portion of the consult fees. This applies to all appointments (even follow up result consults).

Patients will pay the surcharge amount associated with EFTPOS through payments done at reception or over the phone. This fee will not appear on your invoice but will be deducted automatically along with the invoice amount. Please note that this surcharge will vary, depending on the type of card used.

In order to be eligible for a Medicare rebateable phone consult, you must have seen a doctor face-to-face in the clinic in the past 12 months. Exceptions applies for COVID positive patients. If this criteria is not met, the full fee will be expected without a rebate.

Medicare/Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) Patient Fees

Please note that there will be a fee increase from 1st July 2025 to the amounts listed below.

These fees are applicable across the whole practice team. Our doctors may choose to bulk bill you despite your concession status/not holding a concession card.

We bulk bill the following patients (applicable for Medicare patients only):

  • Children aged 16 and under
  • Health Care Card Holders
  • Pensioner Concession Card holders
  • DVA Card holders*

Note: in order to qualify for bulk bill, please present a valid card to our reception team before/after consult. All other patients are privately billed.

*DVA White Card Holders will be bulk billed if aligned with pre-approved medical condition.

We provide EasyClaim option. Your Medicare rebate can be claimed immediately if you present with a physical debit card and tap your card again after payment. It will take some time for you to receive the rebate but it goes back into the card you paid with. Kindly note that rebate cannot go back on credit cards.

If you do not have a physical debit card on you, advise our reception team before paying and we will be able to send the rebate back to your bank account that is recorded on Medicare. If you do not have any bank account recorded, a cheque will be posted to your address and you will to bring the cheque to our practice before we can provide the rebate back to you. Please note that cheques past 6 months of issue might not be accepted.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Fees

We have partnerships with BUPA, Allianz, Medibank, NIB and AHM. This means that we are able to claim with these health insurances directly. They only cover the Medicare rebate amount, so a $37 gap fee applies to all consults.

Patients with other health insurances will require to pay consult fee in full and a paid tax invoice can be provided for claiming with their health insurance.

Note: OSHC patients who see Dr Timothy Ong will be expected to pay the full gap fees as listed in the first table.

Telephone Consults

Phone consult fees apply for all consultation with the doctor over the phone. The gap payment is dependent on whether you are a Medicare/OSHC/OVHC patient. Telephone consult fees are from $52.50 as it is dependent on the time spent with your doctor. If eligible, a portion of the fees will be rebated/directly billed to your health insurance (for OVHC and OSHC patients)

Medicare patients are eligible to longer phone consults (above 20 minutes) by registering with MyMedicare here.

Saturday Private Billing

Bulk Billed patients and patients with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) will be expected to pay a minimum of $40 out of pocket for Saturday appointments.

Failure to attend (FTA) fee will be the amount of full missed session.

DVA card holders will be bulk billed for all appointments. Those who are experiencing financial difficulty are asked to discuss their situation with our receptionist or their usual doctor.

Worker’s Compensation/Return to Work Fees

WorkCover WA sets worker’s compensation fees and we, at Queens Park Medical Centre, follow their fee structure. More information on their fee, click here

Patients with an approved claim number are not expected to pay these fees. We will send the invoice to the insurance company and deal with them accordingly.

Patients without an approved claim number are expected to pay the full fee after their consult. A receipt will be provided for patients to submit for reimbursement with their companies. Unfortunately, we will not be able to send the invoice directly to your employer.

Commercial Driver/Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) Fees

The consultation length will be 30 minutes with our practice nurse first then 30 minutes with the GP. Before seeing our practice nurse, you will need to fill out a 10 paged document, known as Driver’s Assessment, that is used to assist our GP on assessment. If all three documents (M106A, M107A and Driver’s Assessment) are not completed prior to your appointment time, our practice nurse might not be able to see you and you will have to reschedule your appointment. We recommend coming in 30 minutes earlier to leave ample time to complete the required paperwork.

Once you have finished your appointment, we will send off M107A to Department of Transport on your behalf. Kindly let us know if you would prefer to forward it on your own. We will just need to keep a copy of the documents in your profile before you can take the documents with you. The appointment fee is $200 + GST.

Employment Medical Fees

Each employment medical is unqiue and have different requirements. It is highly encouraged to forward your employment medical form/details to reception@queensparkmedical.com.au for advice. Kindly note tthat fees and appointment length varies. Fee starts from $300 + GST, per hour.

Catchup Immunisation

If you are new to Australia and require an immunisation statement, whether it’s for school or work purposes, we provide catchup immunisation. It is required to bring in the immunisation records from your home country in order for our team to assist you with uploading your immunisations to Australia Immunisation Record (AIR).

If all relevant documents have been brought in during your consult, we will be able to process the upload to AIR. Kindly note that it can take at least 2 to 3 weeks for AIR to process the upload. Once we receive the statement, our practice nurse will reach out to advise and to book a follow up appointment to complete any required immunisation.

The fee for a catchup immunisation is consult fee + $50 (non-rebatable). This fee will be taken after first appointment.

Childhood Immunisation

We provide childhood immunisation for all ages (as required by AIR’s standards). Fees vary depending on consultation length and eligibility for bulk billing.

Any procedures or services relating to treatment room may incur an additional fee to cover consumables. Check with our friendly receptionist team for more information.

Treatment Room Fees

Treatment Room Fees are related to services outside of the consults and common services that Medicare covers. It helps cover the cost of the space, equipment, and support staff (like our nurse!) needed for your medical care beyond your consult time with your GP. All treatment room fees are out of pocket fees and are not covered by Medicare/private health insurance.

Procedure Fees

Procedure is defined as a specific series of actions/steps taken to achieve a medical outcome; such as diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease. These actions can range from non-invasive methods like medication or lifestyle changes, to invasive procedure like surgery or diagnostic tests.

Queens Park Medical Centre is a mixed-billing practice. This means that consult fees are dependent on your eligibility criteria. Some patients will have their fees fully covered by Medicare, also known as bulk billing, so nothing out of pocket for them. Other patients will pay a private fee upfront and then receive a partial rebate from Medicare later, leaving a “gap” payment.

We offer bulk billing for the following patients:

  • Children aged 16 and under
  • Health Care Card Holders
  • Pensioner Concession Card holders
  • DVA Card holders*
All concession cards are to valid on the day of consult. If we are unable to verify your concession entitlement on the day of service, please note that the full fee payment will be expected. If you do not fall under any of the above, a mixed billing fee will apply for you.

*DVA White card holders will only be bulk billed if the condition has been approved.

Rebates haven’t kept pace with inflation. There are many practice costs like staff, equipment, rent etc. The gap fee ensures that we can:

  •  Sustain bulk billing for vulnerable patients
  • Maintain quality care & resonable wait times

For life-threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately. For urgent but non-life-threatening medical issues when we’re closed, you can find another nearby after-hours medical service via HealthDirect service search or visit your nearest hospital emergency department or call HealthDirect on 1800 022 222 (24/7) for advice from a registered nurse.

For urgent but non-life-threatening or general medical issues when we’re open, you’re always welcome to call us during opening hours. To ensure that everyone gets the care they need, our team will assess your situiation. Please understand that due to the high demand and limited resources, this may sometimes involve directing you to another suitable healthcare provider for timely care, like St John Urgent Care (a walk-in urgent care clinic). For Medicare holders, you can search here for bulk billed urgent care.

To ensure the safe and appropriate management of your health, a consultation with a doctor is required for all new prescriptions and referrals. Please book an appointment to discuss your needs.

For repeat prescriptions or referrals where your condition is stable and recently reviewed (seen a doctor at least once in the past year):

  1. Standard Appointment: book a face-to-face or phone consultation with your doctor at your convenience
  2. Repeat Service (subject to GP approval): if clinically appropriate and previously arranged, you may request a repeat script/referral without consultation. A standard fee from $34 applies for this service*

*This service is at your doctor’s discretion based on your medical history and timing of your last review. Please call us on 08 9356 8993 to confirm if you are eligible for repeat service and the exact fee to your request.

Bring along a physical debit card to your appointment and tap again after paying (with receptionist’s prompting) to receive your rebate back instanteously.

If you didn’t bring a physical debit card, our team is able to submit a rebate request to Medicare on your behalf. Medicare will then process the rebate back into the bank account recorded with them.

If you didn’t register your bank account with them, a cheque will be sent to your address. Once you receive the cheque, bring it into the practice and we can arrange your rebate to your bank account with our accounts team. It can take up to a week for our accounts team to process your rebate.

On the rare occasion, Medicare might reject processing your rebate on our end. In such cases, we will provide a tax invoice that can be brought into any Centrelink branch/Medicare office for further assistance. Alternatively, you could try claiming via:

  • Medicare app
  • myGov
