Everything has a purpose

When you come to us, you’re thinking about your symptoms.

Your GP? We’re already considering how this fits into your overall health.

In a 15 minute consultation, your GP is:

  • Checking for red flags that might suggest something serious
  • Considering multiple diagnoses – is that cough an infection, asthma or reflux?
  • Thinking about your long-term health risks, not just today’s issue

Majority of the time, it’s the common flu, sometimes, it isn’t. Some conditions – like diabetes, high cholesterol or heart disease can develop without obvious symptoms. Regular health checks with a GP can help assess risk factors and guide early intervention.

Even when a symptom seems minor, a GP is trained to consider the bigger picture — ensuring small concerns don’t become bigger problems down the track. Sometimes the mole hill really is a mountain!

If you’ve been feeling off but can’t quite put a finger on it, let’s talk. Your GP can help assess what is going on.

Saturday Private Billing

To Our Valued Patients:

After much deliberation, we at Queens Park Medical Centre have deemed it necessary to introduce full private billing for Saturday appointments. This will take effect from 5th April. Previously bulk billed patients (children 15 and under, pension card holders, health care card holders, DVA card holders and Commonwealth Seniors card holders) and patients who hold an overseas student health cover with partnered insurance companies, will be expected to pay a minimum of $40 out of pocket gap fee.

This decision has not been made lightly and is largely because Medicare Rebates have not kept up with inflation and the rise in costs. Since 2018, Medicare rebates have increased on average by 1.3% annually whilst inflation has been at a much higher level.

We understand this may affect our patients. Therefore, we thank you for your ongoing support and trust that these changes will help us continue to provide you with quality healthcare. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions of concern.
